The Comeback of Working On-Site

“Companies are starting to embrace the idea of flexible workplace policy.”
After the emergency phase of the COVID-19 pandemic is over, companies have mandated employees back to the office. In fact, the recent survey conducted by Muniyo Quick Polling shows that 55% of employees are now working on-site. However, the future trend of working norms might be different.
American Opportunity Survey (McKinsey, 2022) finds that 87% of employees would take the opportunity to work flexibly if offered. 58% of workers state they are willing to work from home part of the time, while 65% of employees prefer to work fully remotely. Employees who refuse to have flexible work tend to be older, range of 55 to 64 years old.
On the other hand, companies are starting to embrace the idea of flexible workplace policy. It offers work-life balance and minimizes commutes, hence improve productivity (fortune.com). According to a two-year survey conducted by Great Place to Work (2021), working remotely increased employees productivity by 6% on average, while a survey by Mercer (2020) shows that 94% of companies found that the workers were more or equally productive working from home compared to work on-site.
