“One In Four GenZers Reported To Feel More Emotionally Distressed”
According to the survey on McKinsey about GenZ, the generation is poised to be the most stressed, anxious, and depressed (the most isolated) generation of all time. One in four Gen Z respondents reported feeling more emotionally distressed (25%), almost double the levels reported by millennials, and Gen X respondents (13%), and more than triple the levels reported by baby boomer respondents (8%).
One of the supporting factors is within over two years after the pandemic began in the world, Gen Zers, ranging from middle school students to early professionals, indeed—have disrupted both their increasingly uncertain daily lives and long-term plans.
However, Gen Zers are also more likely than previous generations to seek help for their mental health problem which can help them manage their shared and personal stressors.
For instance, many Gen Zers indicated their first step in managing behavioral-health challenges to social media platforms such as TikTok or Reddit for advice from other young people, following therapists on Instagram, or downloading relevant apps. Some of them are even willing to take a step forward to seek help by going to a psychologist or therapist which is not what the previous generation used to do.
How about you? Are you aware of your mental health? In your opinion, what are the best ways or tips to maintain stable mental health?
