Jakarta is celebrating its 496th anniversary in grand style. As a testament to the city’s continuous growth and development, a month-long Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2023 is set to take place. The fair has become an iconic annual event in the city, attracting millions of people from all walks of life. This year’s edition is expected to be even more significant, building upon the success of the previous fair, which recorded an impressive Rp7.3 trillion in transactions in 2022 (CNN Indonesia). It shows the immense potential and dynamism of Jakarta’s economy. 

According to the official website of the fair, jakartafair.co.id, a multitude of attractions and activities will be available for visitors. The fairgrounds will be transformed into a bustling hub of commerce, culture, and entertainment with various booths showcasing the best of industries, business, and local products. About 2,500 companies are participating in the fair and 40% of them are micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). 

The number of participants is indeed fewer compared to the previous year that reached 2,700 companies. However, due to the absence of public activity restrictions (PPKM) and the contained COVID-19 pandemic, it is anticipated that the number of visitors and transaction value would be the same as or even surpass last year’s success (Kompas.id).
